Member Benefits

WCASS is a statewide organization devoted to improving services to children with special needs by promoting professional leadership, providing opportunity for study of issues pertaining to special services, and facilitating communication and collaboration on behalf of special needs students.

Membership dues are payable on-line with MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express, or you may select an option at the end of the on-line application to be invoiced. Join WCASS today!

WCASS benefits are as follows for each member type:

WCASS Full (Professional)


Note: Membership fees are eligible to be paid for through IDEA Flowthrough grant.

WCASS Professional Membership is open to anyone who: 

  • Holds a WDPI license of Director of Special Education and Pupil Services (80) or

  • Holds a WDPI license of Supervisor of Special Education (81) or

  • Has responsibility for supervising special education or pupil service personnel (e.g. a Designee) or

  • Is full time college faculty whose major responsibility is the professional preparation of administrators of special education/pupil services.

WCASS Professional Membership benefits include: 

  • Attendance at WCASS conferences at a special membership rate

  • Attendance at WCASS meetings such as membership and regional meetings

  • Membership in the School Administrators Alliance (SAA)

  • SAA Legislative Alerts 

  • Access to “Members Only” sections of the WCASS website 

  • Periodic membership updates related to developing educational news

  • Weekly Discussion Starters 

  • Wisconsin Education News email

  • Right to vote on issues related to the organization including constitution changes, elected positions, and position papers

  • Opportunity, when appointed, to represent WCASS on WDPI committees 

  • Opportunity to participate on WCASS committees

  • Eligibility to run for a WCASS elected office

Educational Leadership

Educational Leadership Membership is available to professional educators whose jobs include:

  • Responsibilities for special education / pupil services 

  • Examples include district administrators, directors of instruction/curriculum, principals, school psychologists, school counselors, lead teachers, etc.

Educational Leadership Membership benefits include: 

  • Attendance at WCASS conferences at a special membership rate

  • Attendance at WCASS meetings such as membership and regional meetings

  • Periodic membership updates related to developing educational news

Educational Leadership Membership does not include voting rights, eligibility to run for elected WCASS leadership positions, or the opportunity to represent WCASS on WDPI committees or serve on WCASS committees.

Business Associate

$400

The Business Associate Membership includes any:

  • business, or

  • vendor, or

  • corporation, or 

  • private individual marketing a product or service to Wisconsin public school districts. 

Business Associate Membership benefits include: 

  • Electronic notice of all WCASS conference announcements

  • Wisconsin Education News email  

  • Quarterly electronic WCASS Newsletter

  • A listing in the online Buyer’s Guide on the WCASS website 

  • The opportunity to advertise in the WCASS Newsletter at a discounted rate

  • The opportunity to submit educational articles for the WCASS 

  • The opportunity to sponsor events in conjunction with WCASS conferences and activities

Additional information:

  • Business Associate Membership does not constitute a WCASS endorsement of any goods or services  

  • Organizations with CASE Endorsed products will acknowledged in the WCASS Online Buyer’s Guide

  • The benefits described are available to one company representative for each Business Associate Membership. This membership can be transferred within the company.

School Law Associate

$400/Individual

$1,000/Firm

School Law Associate Membership includes any:

  • attorney who currently represents at least one school district, and 

  • who does not currently represent parties with special education interests adverse to school districts. 

These criteria apply only to the individual attorney and not to other attorneys in the member's firm or attorneys with whom the member may be associated.

Law Associate Membership benefits include: 

  • Electronic notice of all WCASS conference announcements

  • Wisconsin Education News email  

  • Quarterly electronic WCASS Newsletter

  • A listing in the online Buyer’s Guide on the WCASS website 

  • The opportunity to advertise in the WCASS Newsletter at a discounted rate

Aspiring Administrator 

Note: The Aspiring Administrator Membership is limited to a maximum of two (2) years.

Aspiring Administrators are individuals who:

  • Are not in an administrative role and 

  • Are in a graduate program leading to WDPI certificate of Director of Special Education and Pupil Services (80) or Supervisor of Special Education (81)

Aspiring Administrator Membership benefits include:

  • Attendance at WCASS meetings such as membership and regional meetings

  • SAA Legislative Alerts

Emeritus Membership is available to an individual who: 

  • Was previously a WCASS Professional Member and retired from full time work and 

  • Has subsequently returned to full or part-time work in a role supervising special education or pupil service personnel or as full time college faculty whose major responsibility is the professional preparation of administrators of special education/pupil services

Emeritus Membership benefits include: 

  • Attendance at WCASS conferences at a special membership rate

  • Attendance at WCASS meetings such as membership and regional meetings

  • Right to vote on issues related to the organization including constitution changes, elected positions, and position papers.

  • Opportunity, when appointed, to represent WCASS on WDPI committees

  • Was previously a WCASS Professional Member and retired from full time work and 

  • Has subsequently returned to full or part-time work in a non-supervisory role in special education or pupil service personnel as a consultant, principal, director of instruction/curriculum, school psychologist, school counselor, teacher, etc. or as part time college faculty whose major responsibility is the professional preparation of administrators of special education/pupil services

Working Retiree Membership benefits include: 

  • Attendance at WCASS conferences at a special membership rate

  • Attendance at WCASS meetings such as membership and regional meetings

  • SAA Legislative Alerts 

  • Access to “Members Only” sections of the WCASS website 

  • Quarterly electronic WCASS newsletters

 Retiree

 $0 Retiree membership is available to an individual who: 
  • Was previously a WCASS member in any membership category and

  • Is neither employed by or contracted with an educational institution or providing products or services to school districts in any capacity

Retiree Membership benefits include:

  • Attendance at WCASS conferences at a special membership rate

  • Attendance at WCASS meetings such as membership and regional meetings

  • SAA Legislative Alerts

  • Access to “Members Only” sections of the WCASS website

  • Quarterly electronic WCASS newsletters

  • Periodic membership updates related to developing educational news

  • New Directors Weekly Discussion Starters

  • Wisconsin Education News email

Retiree Membership does not include voting rights, eligibility to run for elected WCASS leadership positions, or the opportunity to represent WCASS on WDPI committee meetings or serve on WCASS committees.
