Viterbo Graduate Credit

WCASS has established a relationship with Viterbo University that allows attendees at most WCASS Conferences to earn credits through the University. Typically credit is offered at:

  • the Academy for New Special Education Directors,
  • the State Superintendent's Conference on Special Education & Pupil Services Leadership Issues,
  • the WCASS Spring Conference,
  • the WCASS Winter Conference, and
  • the WASBO/WCASS/DPI Federal Funding Conference.
These credits may be able to be applied toward Wisconsin state licensure requirements.  You should verify with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction whether you are eligible to use these credits as circumstances differ depending upon when your original license was awarded; typically Viterbo Graduate Credits may only be used by those who completed their educator preparation program prior to August 31, 2004.

Each Viterbo credit is $220, and is paid directly to Viterbo University
. To earn a credit, each participant must:
  1. Pre-register online for the WCASS Conference you wish to attend. WCASS registration rates apply.

  2. Register on site at the beginning of the conference to participate in the Viterbo course credit program. Viterbo registration forms are provided on site and payment can be made at that time with a check or credit card. Please note due to the short duration of the course, once you complete and submit the Course Registration form to either Viterbo or WCASS, it is not possible to drop or cancel your participation in the course. By completing and submitting a Course Registration form, you are obligated to pay the associated course fee to Viterbo University and complete the assigned coursework.

  3. Complete the requirements for the credit. While these requirements vary depending upon the conference, typically a participant must attend the full conference and complete a Credit Validation Form (provided on site) that summarizes the most important aspects of each conference session. An additional reading assignment is also typically required.

  4. Return the completed Credit Validation Form to WCASS by the due date specified. Coursework must be turned in by mail, fax or email by the published course deadline. If coursework is not received by the deadline, the instructor will enter a grade appropriate to the coursework received.

  5. Grades for the Viterbo Course Credit can be accessed online.

For those who completed their educator preparation program after August 31, 2004 and are unable to use Viterbo Graduate Course Credits to renew their licenses, WCASS has partnered with QEI to provide an online tool for the creation and submission of Professional Development Plans.
