Job Description |
The Department of Public Instruction, the Division for Learning Support: Equity and Advocacy, is currently seeking a School Administration Consultant. This position is located at 125 South Webster Street, Madison.
Starting salary will be between $55,641 and $78,437 per year depending on qualifications. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 04. A six month probationary period is required.
Job Duties
Major responsibilities of this position include providing statewide leadership in implementing the Responsive Education for All Children (REACh) initiative and the integration of improvement activities for students with disabilities relative to the federally mandated indicators; management of grants that promote effective practices in preK and K-12; consultative and technical assistance to local education agencies (LEAs) in implementing highly effective instructional practices for students with disabilities in both academic and behavior areas and accessing the general education curriculum; provision of leadership within the department on cross-divisional teams to promote improvement activities for students with disabilities within general and special education classrooms; monitoring local education agencies (LEAs) to determine compliance and improvement with subchapter V., Ch. 115 and IDEA under s. 115.762(3)(g); provision of leadership in the review and approval of local performance plans.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of current best practices in programming, curriculum development, and instructional approaches for students with disabilities in the content areas of reading and math. Knowledge of current best practices in integrating students with disabilities into general education programming; preK-12 programs and effective practices in Early Childhood education; state and federal special education statutes and regulations; especially related to the reauthorization of IDEA 2004 and the Response to Intervention (RTI) component of the new federal legislation; State Performance Plan indicators especially those concerning Early Childhood students with disabilities; and knowledge and application of effective written and oral communication skills.

Job Description |
The Department of Public Instruction, WESPDHH-Outreach is currently seeking a full-time Education Consultant - School Psychology.

Job Duties
This position provides statewide leadership and consultative services to families, Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and community service providers concerning the development, evaluation, coordination and improvement of counseling and psycho-educational needs for children with hearing loss. In addition, provide a range of consultative and evaluative services focused on the unique educational, psychological, emotional, mental health, and communication needs of deaf children, under the general supervision of the Outreach Director, including consultation to LEAs for psycho-social assessments, counseling, and pupil services team leadership. Increase awareness and promote support and services regarding the psycho-social needs of students with hearing loss in the educational setting. The position requires a high level of collaboration with other members of the Wisconsin Educational Services Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (WESP-DHH) Outreach Team and the Department of Public Instruction Special Education (Madison office) and Student Services/Prevention & Wellness Teams. The primary focus of the position is the development, evaluation, coordination and improvement of school and community-based services to support and promote positive psycho-social development, mental well-being, and appropriate educational expectations for children with hearing loss.

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of hire. The School Psychology Consultant is required to have an American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) minimum rating of 2+ upon hire and 3 by the end of probation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the implications of deafness on learning, cognitive and psycho-social development and social relationships; laws and ethical standards applicable to school psychology practice; psychological tests/interpretations and the validity of use for hearing impaired persons; child development; behavioral management/modification techniques; counseling techniques. Skill in use of counseling techniques with students, including evaluation, intervention selection and implementation, and progress monitoring; receptive and expressive American Sign Language. An ASLPI rating level of 2+ upon hire and 3 by the end of probation is required. Skill writing reports, technical assistance documents and other publications; providing effective professional development utilizing multiple formats.

Job Description |
The Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin School for the Deaf is currently seeking a Social Worker. This full-time school year (80%) position is located at 309 W. Walworth Avenue, Delavan.
Position shift: Sunday 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday - Thursday 1:30 pm - 11:00 pm (Shift is subject to change based on program needs.)
Starting pay is $17.539 per hour (approximately $29,300 per year). This position is in pay schedule 12, range 06. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Duties
Provide social work services, as well as a variety of other services with and for the students, staff, and parents at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf (WSD). Provide on-going social work case services to individual children. Provide social work services to WSD families of hearing impaired children, provide crisis prevention, transitional counseling and short term problem solving to exceptional needs children. Be on call during work and off duty hours (via pager) to respond to student crisis situations. Provide suicide interventions for students and provide follow-up services to appropriate individuals in response to crisis. Serve as liaison between WSD students and the Delevan community and between WSD students and their home communities. Serve as a member of the Pupil Services Team to assist in communication and coordinate efforts on behalf of individual pupils and the well being of all students.

Special Requirement
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a School Social Worker (50) with the Department of Public Instruction. An American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) rating level of 2+ at hire and 3 upon the completion of probation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of individual and group counseling skills; interviewing techniques, reporting and communication strategies for dealing with families; the legal impact on student, school and families with regard to abuse/neglect and other federal and state regulations/laws; the role of the social worker as a support staff individual in the Individual Education Program preparation and implementation; and intervention techniques, behavior management, suicide, substance abuse, child sexual abuse, prevention, principals of social work and child development. Knowledge of and respect for Deaf Culture. Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
